How to Make Homemade Breakfast Sausage Patties…A Low-Carb Recipe

According to the Sausage Patty recipe a pound of pork with the ingredients makes 12 patties. Each serving or 2 patties equals 5.4g carbohydrates and 20.2g protein. A fourth of a pound of sausage without the rest of the ingredients has only 1.2g carbohydrates and 13.3g protein. This recipe also has maple syrup which is high carbohydrate and calories. If you want to reduce your carbs even further substitute the maple syrup with a blend of your herbs and spices. For example: Cinnamon, nutmeg or thyme, to name a few.

Ingredients:

1 pound lean ground pork

1/4 cup bread crumbs

2 tablespoons cream

2 teaspoons pure maple syrup

2 teaspoons grated orange zest

2 teaspoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

1/8 teaspoon dried sage

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Salt and pepper, to taste

1.5 tablespoons canola oil

Directions:

In a medium size bowl combine all the ingredients until blended using your hands. *Gloves are optional. Divide into 12 equal portions. Form each portion into a patty 1/2” thick and 2” in diameter. In a nonstick skillet on medium heat cook the patties in batches 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked all the way through. Serve immediately.
